Daniel Daggers in Sotogrande: Mr. Super-Prime meets Charles Gubbins
Daniel Daggers chooses Charles Gubbins to discover Sotogrande Property and Lifestyle.
Daniel Daggers, known internationally as “Mr. Super Prime”, was spending some time on the Costa del Sol when he decided he wanted to visit Sotogrande.
And who did he call? Charles Gubbins.
As Daniel Daggers put it, Charlie is: “The King of Sotogrande. What a legend!”
Daniel Daggers is a London-based real estate mogul known internationally well known. He works at the very top end of the property market, typically with homes starting above £10 million and, at the other end of the scale, properties valued at more than £100 million.
He is the founder and CEO of DDRE Global and became widely known through Netflix’s Buying London. Over his career, he has advised on more than $6 billion worth of residential property. His business is based in London, but his reach is truly international, with activity and connections across markets including the UK, France, the United States, Dubai and the wider UAE, Switzerland, Germany, Israel, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Africa.
What does Daniel Daggers values when looking at Sotogrande Real Estate?
No matter how international real estate becomes, local knowledge still wins.
Daniel has access to extraordinary properties, clients and markets around the world. But when he wanted to understand Sotogrande, he called someone local. That, to us, says a lot about this business. No matter how international real estate becomes, local knowledge still matters, and so does access.
Charlie spent an afternoon showing Daniel Daggers around Sotogrande, not only looking at properties, but helping them understand Sotogrande itself: where to go, how the different areas feel, what the lifestyle is like, and what makes Sotogrande different from other luxury destinations on the Mediterranean. Daniel was particularly interested in seeing some of the highest-value properties in the area, so naturally they headed to La Reserva.

Daniel Daggers wanted to see an expensive and high-end property in Sotogrande
The Sanctuary: A €14.9M Property in La Reserva, Sotogrande
There, Charlie showed him an exceptional property designed by ARK Architects, The Sanctuary, valued at 14.9 million euros. A special thank you goes to Antonio from ARK Architects, who came specifically to meet Daniel and Charlie, open the property.
One of the things that was immediately noticed by Daniel Daggers about the property and Sotogrande was the setting. The property had something almost Californian about it: contemporary architecture, huge open views and a strong connection with nature. But there was an important difference to Los Angeles, to Dubai or any other luxury destination: Instead of a dense skyline or blocks of buildings interrupting the view, there was forest, space, privacy and panoramic views towards the Mediterranean. That low density is one of the things that makes Sotogrande unusual. You can have a very substantial, contemporary property while still feeling surrounded by nature.

How Architecture in Sotogrande Has Evolved
Daniel Daggers also noticed how much the architecture of Sotogrande has evolved over time. The area still has many traditional Spanish and Mediterranean homes that form part of its original character, but over the years the architecture has become much more varied. Today, those properties sit alongside very modern homes with open spaces, large expanses of glass, cleaner lines and a much more international feel. La Reserva is one of the clearest examples of that evolution.

What Super-Prime Buyers Look for in Sotogrande
That architectural change also reflects the kind of buyer Sotogrande attracts today. The super-prime buyer is not simply looking for an expensive house. They are looking for privacy, views, modern architecture, exclusivity and a home that fits the way they actually live. They are also looking beyond the property itself. They want to understand how the area is developing, whether international demand is growing, whether supply is limited and whether the destination has the potential to hold and increase its value over time.
Because even at this level, buying a property is still a capital decision. Markets move, there are stronger years and quieter years, and there will always be some hiccups along the way. What matters is the long-term direction of the destination. Sotogrande has continued to evolve, both in the quality of its architecture and in its international profile, and areas such as La Reserva are attracting a different level of property and buyer than they did years ago.

Why Access Matters in Super-Prime Real Estate
For us, however, perhaps the most interesting part of Daniel’s visit was not the €14.9M property itself. It was the fact that he called Charlie in the first place. Someone with Daniel’s international reach and network still wanted local knowledge before trying to understand the market properly.
Because knowing Sotogrande is not simply knowing which properties are currently for sale. It is understanding why one area feels completely different from another, knowing the architecture, the lifestyle, the privacy, the views and the type of buyer each property is likely to resonate with. It is also knowing the people behind the properties and having access to the right professionals when they are needed.
That access is a big part of what a serious local real estate agency should provide. It can mean connecting a client with the right lawyer, bank, tax adviser, architect, school, designer, landscaper or technical specialist. International buyers in particular often need much more than someone to open a front door to a house. They need people who understand their circumstances, the local process and how to solve the practical issues that come with buying property in another country.

More Than Selling Property in Sotogrande
This is also why our role at Noll Sotogrande is not simply to sell property. It is to help people who are looking to buy a property understand why Sotogrande is exceptional, to understand what makes this market different, to position it correctly and to make sure the international luxury market understands it too.
For sellers, that means understanding what makes their property relevant, how it should be presented and which type of buyer is most likely to respond to it. For buyers, it means helping them understand the market before making an important decision and then giving them access to the people and resources they need throughout the process.

Why Noll Sotogrande Is a Selling Agency, Not Just a Listing Agency
This is also why we describe ourselves as a selling agency rather than simply a listing agency. Putting a property online is one part of the job. Understanding how to position it, who to show it to, what may be blocking the sale and how to move the process forward is another.
Daniel Daggers is a strong believer in social media and the reach it gives modern real estate. So are we. But he also values something much more traditional: good manners, relationships, trust and reputation. These values are the ones we stand for.
Technology can give you reach, but relationships give you access. And local knowledge gives that access context.
That is why working with Noll Sotogrande is different. It is not only about finding or selling a property. It is about local knowledge, trusted relationships, access to the right people and helping you understand Sotogrande properly before making an important decision.
