Our holiday in Dominican Republic felt like our life in Sotogrande

Travel has always been one of my greatest joys: discovering new destinations and new ways of living.

This year, Stephanie and I took a long‑awaited holiday to the Dominican Republic. We were looking for sunshine, warm beaches, golf, and that needed sense of slowing down.

It was everything a holiday should be. But somewhere between the peaceful mornings and long afternoons on the golf course, a thought kept returning to me:

“This feels a lot like Sotogrande.”

Travel will always be one of our passions. There is nothing like discovering a new place or stepping out of your routine to reset your mind. But this trip reminded us of something important:

We don’t travel to escape our life. We travel because we enjoy it and because we know we have an extraordinary life to return to in Sotogrande. That is a privilege we never take for granted.

Sotogrande reveals itself slowly; it simply becomes part of you. And sometimes, it takes a holiday thousands of kilometres away to realise just how exceptional everyday life here truly is.

Sunshine, nature, golf, wellbeing, community, it’s all here.
Not for a week. Not for a season. But always.

And that, to me, is the real luxury of living in Sotogrande on the Costa del Sol.
