Our holiday in Dominican Republic felt like our life in Sotogrande
Travel has always been one of my greatest joys: discovering new destinations and new ways of living.
This year, Stephanie and I took a long‑awaited holiday to the Dominican Republic. We were looking for sunshine, warm beaches, golf, and that needed sense of slowing down.
It was everything a holiday should be. But somewhere between the peaceful mornings and long afternoons on the golf course, a thought kept returning to me:
“This feels a lot like Sotogrande.”
Not in the literal sense, of course. The Caribbean has its own magic. But the feeling, the sunshine, the outdoor living, the balance between activity and calm, was strikingly familiar.
The lifestyle we were enjoying on holiday is the lifestyle we already have in Sotogrande, all year round.

The Everyday Luxury of Sotogrande
During our stay, we naturally became curious about the property market in the Dominican Republic. Beautiful beachfront villas and resort‑style estates often ranged between €2M and €10M mostly, and also villas up to €40M.
For reference, here is the curated selection of Sotogrande’s finest homes in price bracket: 👉 €2M to €10M Sotogrande Properties
The Caribbean offers paradise for a week. Sotogrande offers paradise for a lifetime.
What struck me most during our trip was how normal it felt to enjoy that level of quality of life because Sotogrande has made it our normal.
There is an understated luxury here: it’s not about excess, it’s about space, nature, privacy and the freedom to live at your own pace.
This is what makes Sotogrande so special: it’s not just about the homes, it’s about the lifestyle they unlock.

Realising the Magic of Sotogrande’s Year‑Round Lifestyle
Sometimes you need to travel far to see what you already have at home.
In the Dominican Republic, we enjoyed the beach, outdoor activities, a relaxed rhythm, and a sense of wellbeing. And then I thought of Sotogrande, our home on the Costa del Sol, and realised that this is exactly what defines everyday life here.
We wake up to sunshine most days of the year.
We have the Mediterranean, the marina, the cork forests and the rolling Andalusian hills.
We have world‑class golf courses in Sotogrande, polo, sailing, tennis and padel.
We have long lunches outdoors in February and sunsets that feel like summer even in early spring.
This is the beauty of living in Sotogrande: a lifestyle that many people travel across the world to experience and we get to enjoy it every day.

Sotogrande: A Lifestyle Worth Celebrating
Travel will always be one of our passions. There is nothing like discovering a new place or stepping out of your routine to reset your mind. But this trip reminded us of something important:
We don’t travel to escape our life. We travel because we enjoy it and because we know we have an extraordinary life to return to in Sotogrande. That is a privilege we never take for granted.
Sotogrande reveals itself slowly; it simply becomes part of you. And sometimes, it takes a holiday thousands of kilometres away to realise just how exceptional everyday life here truly is.
Sunshine, nature, golf, wellbeing, community, it’s all here.
Not for a week. Not for a season. But always.
And that, to me, is the real luxury of living in Sotogrande on the Costa del Sol.
